If all the world’s a stage…

If all the world’s a stage…

…you better be ready for the trap door. Because it will get you.

Today, I saw a t-shirt that spoke to my soul. What did it say, you ask? “What a year this week has been.” Because oh my goodness, it’s been a week. Instead of the standard madness of the job-that-feeds-the-mortgage, it was new chaos. Such as…

Monday. A dental appointment that I was told was rescheduled for that morning, but apparently the ‘save’ button was never clicked. This is after the first attempt was shot down because my blood pressure was too high. The second…the hygienist called in sick, which was supposed to have been rescheduled for Monday, but wasn’t. Third time’s the charm…? They tried asking if I could come in earlier than it was rescheduled for on Tuesday! However…

Tuesday was the general election in the United States! And I was the judge of elections for my ward. I don’t know about other places, but where I am, that’s the person responsible for the polling site and delivering the ballots back to the county seat. It’s technically an elected position, and as I don’t live in the ward I’ve been covering for the past six years and someone wrote themselves in, I’ll either just be a normal pollworker…or covering for someone who thought it was a great joke and doesn’t show like the guy who ghosted me and I ended up with his job to begin with.

Wednesday was my son’s birthday. Not terribly chaotic, but it was a notable day, nevertheless. Got to breathe a little, anyway.

Thursday was Adventures in Driving as I got to take my housemate down to the airport that’s 2–3 hours away, depending on traffic. Lots of driving. LOTS of driving.

Friday was payday for the job-that-feeds-the-mortgage. This means it’s also laundry weekend and lottery tickets day. (Can’t win if you don’t play, right? Girl can dream, anyway.) I figured, hey, I’ll get some walking in, stop by the bank to get quarters so I don’t have to worry whether or not the laundromat’s change machine is going to run out of quarters, swing by a local restaurant for breakfast, then down to the convenience store near that end of town for lottery tickets. Bank was fine…the local restaurant was closed unexpectedly for appointments of their own. AND the convenience store was closed. Like, all the merchandise was gone closed. Possibly a rebuild about to happen? Maybe? It said temporarily closed, which is why I think a rebuild. Walked to a different convenience store later for the tickets, but woof. My feet have some creative cussing abilities, let me tell you.

Saturday! Discovered one of my four cats has worms. Yay. Which means the odds are, all of them have them. More yay. No clue how, as they are indoor only, but here we are. One of my cats is not about to make giving pills easy. So…called the vet, and now have an appointment at noon on Tuesday for all four for the vet assistants to risk their own bodily fluids. I’m willing to pay someone for that. Love my ginger spice, but I also like not bleeding.

Sunday… Laundry day. Boring, and tedious. Feet resumed their cussing, and my back chimed in. Mostly just around the site where I’d had back surgery in June. I think the scar tissue is now being a bitch about things. Yay again.

Monday! As of writing this on Sunday, that’s round two of another airport run to retrieve the housemate. Lots MORE driving. I’m so thrilled! Oh, right, I forgot. Sarcasm font. <sarcasm>I’m so thrilled!</sarcasm>

Tuesday… Veteran’s Day. It WAS the day I was intending to go out…as a veteran…and partake in at least one special thing, but…now it’s also Veterinarian’s Day. I might be able to get out there for something but…well. Have to see. Depends on how the whole de-worming thing for the fur crew goes.

Wednesday, it’s back to the grind with the job-that-feeds-the-mortgage. That means getting up before the buttcrack of dawn for an hour-one-way commute and a ten-hour workday, and a one-plus-hour commute home…depends if people remember how to drive.

And during all of this, I’ve been editing The Timeless One, got the physical proof for softback version of The Raging One and need to tweak some things for the cover, been working on a draft of what The Knowing One’s cover will be, but will be re-reviewing that manuscript one more time before I call it final and get the templates to make the cover properly. I found inspiration for my sci-fi series covers, but that’s going to take a bit more effort on my part, and my brain has not engaged on that yet. And still pondering a cover style-theme for the other series. Oh, and trying to figure a short story to throw out there.

Just a few things. At least it keeps my ADD occupied. I’m tired.
